Conductor: 2018-present
For our Christmas Concert 2018, we welcomed Andrew Leung as our new conductor. Andrew inherited a vibrant and growing group of singers who have benefited greatly from his deep experience with choral singing.
Andrew earned his degree in sacred music from Franciscan University of Steubenville, USA, where he was trained in singing, organ-playing, and conducting. As the former choirmaster and organist at the Macau Cathedral, he continues to maintain a busy conducting schedule in Hong Kong.
In addition to the Cecilian Singers, he is also the music director of Vox Antiqua. As a baritone, he performs as a soloist with the Choir of St. John’s Cathedral and Tallis Vocalis.
Andrew is currently an artist at the Paul Phoenix Academy, where he works with the two-time Grammy Award winner and former tenor of the King’s Singers.
Grateful thanks go to talented and patient Jackie Fung who continued to accompany us until 2019 on the organ and piano. For the 2020-21 season we were joined by the very talented pianist Olga Wong. Carlos Li from 2021-22. Our current accompanist is Kenneth Ma from 2022.
Conductor: 2012- 2018
For our Christmas Concert 2012, we welcomed Kent Lee as our conductor. He left Hong Kong in 2018. Our deep thanks go to Kent Lee for his profound choral knowledge, enthusiasm and happy spirit! Grateful thanks go to Jackie Fung who played the organ and piano brilliantly during this period.
Conductor: 2011-2012
We thank Jennie Wong Yat Tsz for conducting our Easter Concert 2012, Jennie’s technical expertise and excellent conducting helped our choir considerably. We thank Ronald Lam (HK Women’s Choir) and Howard Topper (Welsh Choir) as guest conductors for our ‘Freedom’ Concert in September 2012.
Committee
The choir has a committee made up of enthusiastic members who meet three or four times a year. Elections to the committee are held once a year at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). We are very grateful to all committee members for their hard work.
